Comments & Contact

Hundreds of readers have shared their breakup stories and feelings over the years that this site has been in operation.

Scroll down and take a look at their messages, together with my response to each person: you're definitely not alone.

When you first load this page, it shows several pages of the most recent messages.

You can also search the messages by keyword.

Search by details such as age, gender, length of relationship, or how long after the breakup the message was written. Or search by dozens of issues; just a few of the terms you can specify include a breakup out of the blue, first love, a broken engagement, divorce, a cycle of break-up/make-up break-up/make-up, contact from ex, closure, false hope, someone else / infidelity, sadness or depression, special occasions....

If you'd like to send a message, I'd love to hear from you. I know how hard it is to think straight when you're in the midst of an emotional crisis, so I try my best to give a clear, honest and no-nonsense view from the outside perspective. To contact me, please use the form at the bottom of this page and indicate in your message if it’s private for me only, or if you’d like it to be displayed. I won’t publish anything without your explicit approval.

Important notice:

For several years, the curator of this site, J., responded to every comment that was submitted here for public display, as well as to the majority of private messages as well. The site was registered by someone else, but when that person tired of it and moved on, J. took over and ran it all. The effort she put in is astounding: it adds up to more than 2,500 people she personally corresponded with about their breakups, giving to each of them long, detailed and heart-felt insight and guidance about their specific situation.

In 2016, she suffered a violent accident which has led to a cascade of major health issues. The prognosis is better now, but it's still touch-and-go.

She still can't use a computer in any real way for now. Her messages to others are full of so much insight, wisdom and gentle caring that it seems a pity to take the site down entirely or even to just delete the comments page. So we're leaving it all here, including the search function, so readers can look through the thousands of previous messages.

But at least for now, new messages won't be answered. So we're putting this note on her site here so readers will understand that she won't be able to respond to their messages for quite some time.
